RUF Automobile GmbH are honouring an event ie Presentation of the eRUF electric sports car. The Automobile can be seen from 08:30 to 12:00 am outside of the Louise-Weiss bldg low by the flag poles in the Parliament in Strasbourg. The wife of Alois Ruf Estonia and he will be on site and look forward to presenting the car to the people and to answering any questions. Ruf Automobile GmbH, internationally well known manufacturer for high performance automobiles is now introducing the first electrically powered sports car from Germany. We chose an automobile that has been basis for all our activities for 45 years now. The ideas that lead to the development of the eRUF concept vehicle came from Alois Ruf. His hydroelectric power plants, which feed 35 million kW hours of electricity annually into the German electrical grid, could also power modern automobiles. The 91 kilogram three-phase electric motor’s performance cannot be outshone by conventional combustion engines. It produces its maximum 650 Nm torque output from 0 rpm onwards. Technical key data comply with a sports automobile. The driving range lies at remarkable 320 km at conservative driving manner and at approx. 200 km at sporty driving manner. The electric engine, working with 90 % efficiency, actuates the automobile with 150 kW (204 hp) and still grants the character of a sports car. At the moment, the eRUF is equipped with 96 Axeon iron-phosphate lithium-ion batteries of the latest generation. Thus, weighing 1900 kg, the automobile is still quite heavy. It is our goal to reduce the weight of the Model B to 1500 kg. At the end of 2009 the first eRUF, ready for serial production, will come into the market.
