Breaking down the basic differences between b2b and b2c

 
When we compare previous business-to-business communication practices and today’s practices, we observe two major differences. One is that business-to-business has gained as much interest for marketers and communicators as business-to-consumer, and it has become more sophisticated as well. The importance of branding in business-to-business has come forth and thus the necessity for a variety of communication tools from different disciplines have emerged in an integrated way. Business-to-business communication practices may change according to industry and company, but at present social media leads the way as being most efficient. For example, word-of-mouth became a popular method via internet technology and blogs.

Serra Görpe is professor of communications at Istanbul University. Prior to the start of her career in academia, Professor Görpe worked as a public relations professional (1988-1999) after graduating with a postgraduate degree in social psychology from Bogazici University, Istanbul. She received her PhD degree in public relations and advertising from Istanbul University. She is a member of the Turkish Public Relations Association and a member of the European Public Relations Education and Research Association and council member of the International Public Relations Association from Turkey.
