When the trouble started with British Airways’ new Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport on March 27th, news travelled fast. With reports of lost baggage, cancelled flights and disgruntled customers spreading rapidly via online news outlets, TV, newswires and radio,  BA front-line staff weren’t the only ones overwhelmed. BBC viewers saw first-hand how a nonplussed BA press officer shut the door to a staff restroom against journalists in pursuit. They were looking for answers after BA’s director of operations, Gareth Kirkwood, had failed to take questions after a brief press conference.
