You became vice president for group corporate communications at Aegon in March 2007. How was your first year in this position?
It was a productive year. The initial focus was to develop a very strong team. We have some people that have been with Aegon for quite a number of years and even worked for Aegon’s predecessor companies. We have added to the team, with additional capabilities from both internal and external communications professionals. It was a busy time with the announcement of a new chairman and CEO and any number of business developments in both our established and emerging markets.
