Job description: 

Janssen as a part of Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies is looking for a strong candidate for a Communication & Public Affairs Senior Manager, Russia/CIS role.

Responsible for the strategic planning, development and implementation of integrated external and internal communication and public affairs strategies that engage and influence stakeholders; protect and enhance the reputation of Janssen and Johnson & Johnson in Russia and CIS countries; and support the growth objectives of Janssen in Russia/CIS.

Reporting to: Communication & Public Affairs Leader, Janssen EMEA

Main responsibilities:

Guide decisions to drive business and Enterprise growth, and develop and enhance our reputation in Russia/CIS

  • Model and inspire integration of knowledge from deep internal and external networks; multi-stakeholder insights; and broad understanding of business, competitive and industry priorities in development and implementation of strategic communication plans that drive key business and reputation outcomes and shape the environment for the company’s medicines and solutions
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with and serve as trusted advisor to Operating Company (OpCo) leadership team; serve as senior Communication voice with leadership on business decisions, critical issues/crises and matters concerning company reputation; participate in OpCo Management Board
  • Coach senior leaders to develop their ability to engage and inspire their organizations and shape the external environment

Drive Enterprise and OpCo growth, and build stakeholder trust/advocacy by leading team in developing and implementing proactive communication and public affairs initiatives

  • Develop and implement Communication and Public Affairs strategies to strengthen the corporate image and reputation of Janssen as a thought leader, breakthrough innovator, and a trusted partner for the healthcare system; influence and frame industry agenda
  • Maintain deep understanding of current issues in the environment affecting the Enterprise, Janssen and its brands; develop public affairs strategies that inform and shape belief, action, behavior and advocacy to shape the external environment; position Janssen on the relevant specific policy issues; build public affairs capabilities within the OpCo leadership team
  • Proactively engage, inform and influence key external stakeholders: issues important to Janssen and its constituents; develop relationships with key external stakeholders, including major trade associations; support Government Affairs / External Affairs / Market access priority areas
  • Assess opportunities and organize proactive participation of company leadership in key events and forums; manage leadership communications, external visibility, and media presence, including media trainings, speech preparation, etc.
  • Provide communications and public affairs support to priority products and CVTs
  • Oversee internal communications strategies that drive OpCo employee engagement; support change management initiatives; oversee OpCo specific communication channels and content curation
  • Influence OpCo digital strategy presence, in alignment with regional strategy and guidance
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues from other sector, enterprise and CoE teams to drive the Enterprise reputation agenda
  • Continuously shape team approach by identifying and applying key outcomes and metrics to communication practices, and provide insights that improve quality, performance and key capabilities
  • Guide team in effectively managing public relations and other agencies
  • Oversee budgets with the highest degree of fiscal prudence and responsibility

Maintain stakeholder trust through effective management of issues

  • Ensure that team proactively identifies potential Enterprise, Janssen, OpCo-related issues and develop issues management strategies and processes
  • Ensure excellence in management of product issues and other situations that may impact stakeholder trust and company reputation
  • Partner closely with global Janssen communication, Media Relations, Workforce Communication, Strategy & Insights and other Global Capability Teams to ensure Enterprise alignment

  • Proactively develop healthy, high-performing and highly engaged teams consisting of talent at multiple levels and involved in multiple businesses

  • Develop and coach others in superior written, oral and visual communications in a variety of styles and formats

Qualifications

  • Higher education in related spheres
  • Proven performer with 8+ years of experience managing communication in an international company, NGO, government agency or public relations agency; proven track record of successful public relations/communications, corporate communication, product communication, public affairs, and/or media relations achievements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, coach and develop high-performing teams in a matrixed organization
  • Demonstrated ability to build deep, authentic relationships and strong influence with senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to develop successful partnerships with top executives
  • Extensive experience in crisis/issues management
  • Extensive experience dealing with national and local lay, professional/trade and social media
  • Deep understanding of digital and social platforms
  • Outstanding strategic thinking and analytical ability
  • Extensive experience in managing budgets and resource allocation across large critical projects
  • Exercise a high level of independent judgment even in challenging, complex situations
  • Fluent English and Russian required
