The role of business in society: how to get it right

Business has always been the cornerstone of prosperity in society by creating resources that permit social development.

But recent trends have shone a new light on this role: from shrinking public purses and diminishing trust in companies, to growing public awareness of social responsibility and increasing anger over the inverse relationship between wealth creation and social cohesion. It is nowadays clear that businesses do not operate only within the context of commerce but are deeply intertwined with the social milieu, making business an integral part of society – but how do business leaders respond to the wider expectations set by governments and society? And what are the risks and opportunities involved?

This regional event organized by the European Association of Communication Directors and K1, where we will hear from four leading Scandinavian organizations about how they see the role of business in society, and what they do not just to adapt to this new reality – but in fact to lead the way. The event will include an open panel discussion where attendants will get a chance to ask questions to the speakers. After the discussion round there will be time for networking and light refreshments.
