What does the presence of more women in the C-Suite do for your company? Research suggests that you can expect both stronger financial performance and reputational advantages for your brand. Despite this, gender equality in executive positions remains elusive. New research suggests that nearly three-quarters of executive professionals believe that there will be an equal balance of men and women operating in the C-Suite by 2030. However only 39 per cent of these C-level executives report that gender diversity in senior management is a high priority for their company.
Weber Shandwick and KRC Research have explored the mindsets of executive level-professionals on a global scale in their report Gender Equality in the Executive Ranks: A Paradox – The Journey to 2030.
Through answers from 327 executives, the research identifies forces that both hinder and aid gender equality in the corporate agenda. Influence from the media, stakeholders, CEO gender champions and millennial attitudes are among the positive forces. Countering these efforts are lack of C-suite support, gender pipeline fatigue, pay inequity and the perception of an impenetrable glass ceiling.
