CEOs visible on social but engagement stalls
The majority of CEOs are present on social media but there remains room for improvement when it comes to activity and engagement.
According to new research from Weber Shandwick, 92% of U.S. public and 76% of private company CEOs are visible online in social media and on their company websites.
However, fewer than four in 10 public and private company CEOs (38% each) have posted online within the past year. This relates to low engagement levels. Only 22% of public company CEOs and 34% of private company CEOs interacted with other people online within the past year.
The company website is the leading destination for public and private company CEO visibility. Ninety per cent of public company CEOs and 66% of private company CEOs have a presence beyond just their name and biography page.
The Socialising Your CEO IV: The Engagement Factor report, the latest in Weber Shandwicks’ series Socialising Your CEO, surveyed the online activities of CEOs from the public companies in the U.S. Fortune 500 rankings and Mercury News’ top companies in Silicon Valley.
