The increasing influence of communications in Asia

Now in its third year, and with input from over 500 communication professionals across Asia, The Pulse 2015/16 is the most wide-ranging tool currently available for benchmarking the function, structure and future challenges of corporate communications departments. Since 2013, VMA has been running The Pulse to determine the hot-button issues being faced by you, the leading communications professionals in Asia. This year, 518 communicators outlined the emerging trends in the region – painting a picture of a function that is rapidly maturing, with previous areas of growth now putting down roots and new shoots beginning to emerge.

Among its findings this year, the report finds that there has been rapid and influential growth for communications in Asia – and no one should anticipate any levelling off yet. Almost three-quarters (73%) of communications professionals foresee increasing influence for their functions over the next two years. And almost half (44%) expect their total communications budget to grow over the same period, with two in five (39%) predicting that, at worst, it will remain the same.
