The ever increasing media coverage and public awareness of the planet’s continuing environmental decline has forced many companies to adopt more environmentally sound policies and practices. Conversely, a large number of firms have chosen to uphold the old standard and simply tried to ‘greenwash’ their image, to cover up the true environmental impact of their practices. Large oil companies whose business practices are by nature detrimental to the environment, spend major sums of money on advertising campaigns instead of investing it to clean up their act.
