The transformative effect of technology

Transforming a credit card company into a technology business: how innovation in the payments industry led to a fundamental shift in Visa Europe’s communications culture.

Visa Europe is a membership association, which means we’re owned by a group of around 3,500 European banks and financial institutions. They have been our number one stakeholder group since Visa’s inception 50 years ago. Back then – and indeed, until relatively recently - it’s fair to say that the vast majority of our external communications was focused on engaging with our membership, and not with the wider world.
