When you sit down to talk with analysts, you have to talk numbers. That was what I did when I headed investor relations at Grupo Banco Popular. Banco Popular is the third largest banking group in Spain and that meant that I spent a lot of my time meeting analysts and investors, either in Madrid or on roadshows. But when I became Popular’s general technical secretary earlier this year, I quickly realised that I had to communicate story-lines.
Putting your stamp on a new role
Francisco Sancha is the technical general secretary to the chairman at Banco Popular, where he has overall responsibility for strategic development, external and internal communications, investor and shareholder relations and brand and corporate identity. He was formerly their director of investor and shareholder relations. Sancha has an Executive M.B.A from the IESE Business School, and a degree in Business and Economics from ICADE E-2. He has also held positions as director of international retail banking, and as commercial director at the banking group.
