Condé Nast Media Strategy team is part of the Industry division of Condé Nast, responsible for negotiating and enforcing annual revenue-based contracts. The Industry accounts run advertising across various Condé Nast media: magazines, websites, and related products (tablets, mobile, apps, etc.).

The Media Strategy team works closely with and supports the National Sales Directors, by formulating astrategy for both plans and contract negotiations. The team has direct contact with clients/agency with respect to rates, proposals, and contracts. This person sets the working style for the group and is responsible for assigned accounts. The Associate Director, Media Strategy, also provides strategic buying direction and understands aspects of their client’s business. This individual is responsible for the creation and negotiation of client contracts as well as the management of account profitability. In addition, the Associate Director is the central point of contract, delivering the entire organization with expertise and efficiency. The Associate Director will also be working closely with other Associate Directors to help support display and video campaigns with relation to the contracts.

Job description: 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and negotiate contract components as well as setting negotiation strategies, collecting signatures and socializing deal terms internally and externally
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Research leads to create packaging solutions and strategies for both custom and standard offerings
  • Work with Sales Directors on a wide range of on media strategy and partnership pricing for a wide range of accounts
  • Prepare strategic analyses to develop Industry proposals, plans, and solutions for advertisers
  • Understand client driven campaign KPIs (Key Performance Indicators); draw insight from campaign/program results and ensure dialogue with internal team on informed strategic implications
  • Ensure collaboration among departments; fosters great teamwork
  • Act as Liaison with billing department to reconcile issues with clients and their agencies
  • Tracking contract level achievement and communicating incentive opportunities throughout fiscal year
  • Handle rates requests, manage inquiries from internal brands and external agencies 
  • Communicating billing & accrual with accounting team; acting as a liaison between Sales, Media Strategy and billing team to ensure they have most up to date information
  • Set development plans for individuals and support enrichment opportunities focused on longer-term career development goals
  • Ad hoc reports as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4+ years’ experience of agency or media/publishing experience within a business, technology, or advertising setting; understanding both print and digital is a plus
  • Strong analytical and communication skills – both written and oral
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Mac operating systems, Google Drive/Docs and Keynote, with flexibility and resourcefulness that allows quick sourcing and mastery of new computer tools (ie MediaRadar, Moat Pro, AAM Statements, Kantar MagAdvisor & Strategy)
  • Strong client service experience
  • Strategic thinking ability with balanced analytical and creative approach to tactical planning
  • Experience successfully bringing together people from different disciplines, internal and external to achieve desired outcomes 
  • Experience reconciling billings
  • Ability to multi-task
  • A team player; positive attitude and dedication to excellence
