Position Summary

Develop and implement internal communication strategies and programs that engage, align and inspire current and prospective employees with Cabot’s vision, strategy, business and employer brand. Champion communication initiatives to increase employees’ awareness of company strategies and how it relates to their role. The Internal Communications Manager will collaborate with internal partners as needed across functions (Human Resources; IT; Safety, Health & Environment (SH&E); Legal; Marketing; etc.) and geographies. This position will develop communications activities and initiatives that drive employee engagement and increase target audiences’ understanding of the company, its mission and strategies, and its value proposition to employees, candidates, and the communities we serve.

Job Responsibilities

  • Establish a cadence for communications and protocol around internal communications to ensure corporate wide activities and programs are effectively communicated to all levels of the organization.
  • Work with cross functional, internal customers such as human resources, SH&E, IT, and others to support communications needs while ensuring messaging connects to broader organization’s brand style and business priorities.
  • In conjunction with the HR function, help in the development and execution of a global employer brand strategy, and an associated communications plan that is aligned with company strategy.
  • Ensure appropriateness and suitability of communications for Cabot’s global internal audience. This includes determining which high-level communications require translations to ensure that key messages are received and understood by our audiences across the globe.
  • Manage internal communications and change management efforts, and assist with crisis communications. 
  • In partnership with Global HR Leadership, ensure that employee-focused services, benefits, programs & initiatives are communicated in an effective, compelling and consistent way with broader HR strategy.
  • Develop stand-alone communications campaigns that help to improve employee’s understanding of the company and their contribution to company results.
  • Administer and develop content for global intranet.
  • Establish strategy that facilitates regular executive communications to employees as needed, including the communications strategy for the fiscal year corporate goals and company strategy.
  • Evaluate and recommend new platforms to extend reach of key communications to global employee and candidate populations.
  • Use employee feedback and data to drive improvements to communications initiatives.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of employee communications and communications strategies, techniques and practices.
  • Demonstrated global and cultural awareness – experience communicating complex information to global audiences, cognizant of cultural preferences and sensitivities.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing diverse and high impact HR communications programs to support organizational objectives and drive results.
  • Excellent influencing, leadership, and communication skills - particularly within matrix organizations - to effectively interact with leaders and colleagues across organizational and geographical boundaries.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to interact with internal and external agencies as needed. Superior writing skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills in order to coordinate various activities simultaneously.
  • Must be comfortable working on a small team, in a fast-paced environment that requires ongoing management of multiple projects at one time.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and work with tight deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications, specifically PowerPoint. Experience Adobe applications including with Photoshop and InDesign a plus.
  • Bachelors Degree in Communications, Marketing or related field.
  • 8+ years of highly relevant experience designing and delivering employee communications to a multi-site, global organization.
