The newly elected President of the Bulgarian PR Society (BPRS) is a communication professional with over 15 years’ experience in private sector and strategic planning.
Manuela Toteva began her career in 2002 as a press attaché in the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and then moved to the corporate sector, where she worked for various companies and brands including Aurubis, METRO Cash & Carry, Postbank, Bain Capital, HBO and Cinemax. She holds a bachelor's degree in public relations from the Faculty of Journalism at Sofia University and Chartered Institute of Public Relations, London and has completed a number of specialized training in marketing, sustainable development and crisis communication in the Czech Republic, Germany, and Serbia.
Key priorities during her presidency are launching a dialogue on the subject of the strategic role of the PR profession in the corporate structure and renewal of partnerships with international professional organizations. An important issue is the creation of communication ombudsman – an independent institution that will protect the possibility for citizens to receive accurate and timely information from companies and institutions in Bulgaria.
BPRS was established in 1996 and it is the first Bulgarian professional association in the sphere of PR. As a voluntary, non-profit professional organization of specialists in the field of public relations and marketing communications, it unites specialists who practise and teach in these spheres.
