GB: Julian Eccles to join Millicom

Millicom, the international telecommunications and media company, has appointed Julian Eccles as VP for corporate communications.
Eccles most recently served as director of marketing and comms at The Football Association – working at The FA for less than a year before resigning in May 2011. Before the FA role, Eccles built considerable experience in media and telecoms as director of comms and corporate affairs at BSkyB for over five years and subsequently as comms director at UK telecoms regulator Ofcom. He has also worked as a special adviser in the department for culture, media and sport. Eccles will head Millicom’s public and media relations and internal communications, reporting to group president and CEO, Hans-Holger Albrecht.  
Millicom International Cellular, also known as Tigo, is a mobile phone network provider in America and Africa. Based in Luxembourg, the company provides mobile services in 14 countries. With operations across Central America, South America, South-east Asia, and Africa, using GSM, CDMA and TDMA on Africa and Asia, GSM and UMTS over Central America and South America. Millicom also is the owner of Amnet, a company that provides cable television and broadband internet services in Costa Rica, Honduras and El Salvador; additionally the company provides corporate data services in Guatemala and Nicaragua.
