Maureen Corish has been appointed group comms director UK and International for the newly merged Penguin Random House. Rebecca Sinclair, Penguin comms director, is leaving to relocate to Singapore at the end of the month.
Maureen was previously group comms director for the UK and International operations of The Random House Group before the merger. She will now focus on post-merger internal comms and staff engagement, as well as media relations and corporate comms. She will also continue to manage the Random House consumer insight team.
She will report to Tom Weldon, CEO of Penguin Random House UK, and will also work closely with Ian Hudson, deputy CEO in the UK, and CEO for Penguin Random House International. Maureen joined Random House in 2008 and in 2010 launched the group's first consumer insight team. Before that, she spent seven years at Emap plc (now Bauer Media), rising to the position of comms director for the broadcast, music and new media divisions.
Penguin Random House is a company formed from the merger between the book publishers Random House, owned by Bertelsmann, and Penguin Group, owned by Pearson plc. Penguin Random House is the world’s first truly global trade book publisher.
