IT: New role for Mancone at Armani

Fabio Mancone, global director of licensing & communications at Armani, has been appointed CEO of Giorgio Armani’s France and Benelux retail division and will serve as communication and image strategy adviser while Anoushka Borghesi, previously head of public relations at the company, has been promoted to global head of press, where she will be responsible for press communication for all of the company’s brands. She will report directly to Giorgio Armani. The Italian group has also announced the departure of Yannick Angelloz-Nicoud, who was public relations director at Giorgio Armani.

While Armani is a famous household name, both Gucci and Ralph Lauren boast significantly larger business than that of Armani. In 2007, Florence-based Gucci had annual sales of 2.175 billion euros, or $2.784 billion at current exchange rates, while Armani's sales totaled 1.697 billion euros, or $2.172 billion. Ralph Lauren led both the Italian brands with 2007 sales of $4.30 billion.
